PRIVATELY TENDED GARDEN
GUIDELINES AND CONDITIONS
22 APRIL 2023

All condos have some garden space that may be located in the front, side and/or back of the unit. The board allows co-owners to take control of these spaces and make them into Privately Tended areas.  These areas have to remain weed-free and consistently cared for, either by the co-owner or someone the co-owner hires.  These areas are identified by a small sign, provide by the board that alerts the landscape crew to leave that space alone.

Conditions for privately tended areas:

  • If mulch is used it must be either dark brown or black.

  • All privately tended areas must be kept weed free.

  • Weed killer and/or fertilizer must be organic / chemical free.

  • Existing garden areas cannot be expanded unless approved by the board with Modification Request.

  • Sidewalks and driveways must remain clear of plants, flowers, or other greenery.

  • Modification forms are required for adding or removing trees, evergreens or large shrubs (ie. Rose of Sharon, Lilacs, Viburnum)

  • Greenview will continue to trim trees, evergreens and large shrubs if needed.

  • Privately Tended signs can be removed by owner at any time. The owner should notify the board that they can no longer tend their own yards so Greenview will take over the weed control, trimming, and fertilizing.

  • Remove and store the signs inside for the winter season.

Oakbrook Board retains the right to remove privately tended signs from any area that does not comply with these GUIDELINES.
